I’ve heard rumors that it’s back-to-school season. In fact, I know of some people whose kids have been back to school for weeks …
So sad!
My kids still have a few weeks left. Chicago public schools aren’t in session until the Tuesday after Labor Day. Which gives me plenty of time to make some brown-nosing back-to-school teacher gifts!
Like these adorable pencil-colored painted and distressed pencil holder mason jars! I think the cute chalkboard-look label is the perfect addition!

Kids here in Grand Junction, CO areas started school on Aug. 4th and there has been quite a bit of anger expressed by kids in 4H and FFA as there are many agricultural areas around and kids that can’t see their projects to the end at State Fair. Also interferes in many families being able to take vacations, kids to earn money they need for school year and some businesses that make a big share of their money in summer.
There are several one week breaks kids didn’t used to get and Spring break has been extended to 2 weeks. There have been several articles in newspapers, segments on tv and people writing in to You Said it on Sunday’s edition, not happy comments either. Why this was necessary is anybody’s guess but the school board is not popular at all. What was wrong with starting school after Labor day? It worked for years. It’s been terribly hot here, it’s still summer for crying out loud. Boo hiss. Happy week
