Shamrock Mason Jars – St. Patrick’s Day Craft Ideas.

Shamrock Mason Jars

When I was young and single and carefree, St. Patrick’s Day was a favorite holiday to celebrate. It comes with no couples pressure like it’s predecessor, Valentine’s Day. There is no gift giving stress. And the food and drink are easy …

boil some meat and cabbage in a pot. Serve with a side of ice cold beer.

But now that I’m older and more sophisticated, my St. Patrick’s Day celebrating no longer involves a parade followed by a day-long-bar hop. So I’m celebrating this year with some chic gold jars painted with subtle shamrocks.

St. Patrick's Day Craft Ideas with Mason Jars

These are not too complicated to make. You just need a side of patience …

1. Spray Paint Jars Gold

Mason Jar Craft Ideas for St. Patrick's Day

I used Rust-Oleum’s Metallic gold spray paint. I love the color and you can easily cover with one thick coat.

2. Use a thin tipped brushed to create a dot of paint.

Be generous. You need that do to be thick.

3. Create a second dot of paint.

Be sure to overlap dot #1.

4. Create a third dot of paint.

This forms your clover leaves.

5. Use a toothpick to create a stem.

Pull through those thick dots of paint.

And you’re done!

Now, it you’re not up for making these yourself, I am selling made-to-order sets at my Etsy shop. I have two variations:

Do you need to use a primer before you spray it?

I don’t use primer. But you will need to handle carefully because the spray paint can scratch easily.

    Great jars !
I have painted many Mason jars. If you Prime the jars with a good primer, the gold paint will not scratch as easy.
Make sure the primer is good and dry before painting the gold.
Also make sure the primer, and the spray paint are the same brand. Krylon is the most durable!
Not always the cheapest paint, but the best quality!
