The Union Jack mason jar.
Would you believe me if I told you this past week’s ‘event’ in Great Britain had absolutely no influence over my idea to create a Union Jack mason jar design?
Would you also believe me if I told you that I chose the blue color long before … like two days long before … Kate Middleton gave birth to a boy?
And while the design and the color are pure coincidence …
The decision to ‘style’ them for this photo shoot with baby’s breath was 100% calculated.
Let’s just chalk it up to my lame attempt to grab the attention of the parents of Great Britain’s newest royal addition …
and heir.
And here’s how you can make your own royal-attention-grabbing Union Jack painted mason jars:
Union Jack Painted Mason Jars how to
1. Paint Jars with Base Color.
I used quart-sized mason jars for this project and gave them a coat of Antique Blue La Craie paint.
2. Create Union Jack Design.
I used Washi tape (purchased at Target for $2.99 a roll) to tape off the Union Jack design.
3. Paint Jars with Top Color.
Paint the jars with your top coat color. I used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White.
4. Distress
Once dry, remove tape and distress. Gently. Using 120 grit sandpaper.
And not that I’m trying to grab the attention of Kate Middleton and Prince William …
but does anyone have the address to Buckingham Palace?

Hi,
You did a great job!
Do you “cook” your jars after the paint is dry or spray with any kind of seal on them?
Thanks!
Dawn
