Fruit Salad in a Mason Jar

I think the produce guys at my local market are bored.  I mean, what other explanation can there be as to why the strawberries and carrots and pre-cut melon are never in the same place week-to-week …

 

Just when I get used to being greeted by rows of strawberries when I walk through the front door, I find myself face-to-face with tomatoes.  Granted, technically tomatoes are a fruit.  But they’re not the kind of fruit I’d put in a fruit salad …

 

… packed in a mason jar.

 

These jars only get my daughter’s favorites.  She’s my fruit lover.   So I started with pineapples on the bottom.   Mostly because of weight …

 

 

And then I just layered on strawberries, blueberries, melon, and raspberries.

 

  I could’ve just left it there, but a dollop of whipped cream seemed in order.  Just this one time …

 

 

The last step:  Add a lid and refrigerate.

 

And now it’s a ready made snack for when my fruit-loving daughter gets home from day camp!
