Gift Idea: Painted Jars

by Linda 5 Comments

painted mason jars 2 little superheroes

It’s no secret that I’m a fan of painted mason jars …

in fact, I’m a big fan.  A huge fan.  A ginormous fan!

So when Danielle at 2 Little Superheroes shared with me her painted and distressed mason jar gift idea, I was intrigued …

Naturally.  I mean, I am a fan of the painted mason jar after all!

Danielle even “shabbied” them up a bit more with some torn and tattered fabric wrapped around the rim.

Love those! I just made a set of ombre blue ones, which were Ball. And I built a little wooden box to hold them. Now I am working on a set of white ones, which are Kerr. So many possibilities….

      Hi Diane
For these mason jars I simply did 2 coats of latex paint (no primer at all) and that’s it. I just roughed them up a bit with sand paper. I’m sure spraying them with clear coat wouldn’t hurt (you can buy it in a spray paint can so it’s super easy to apply). But I’m not drinking out of them or throwing them in the dishwasher or anything so they really don’t need much protection. Hope that helps.
