It feels like every month when I put up a new calendar page I bemoan how quickly time has passed. How I can’t believe we’ve moved on to another month …
or year. 🙂
But today I will not bemoan the passing of time. Because … to me … January has felt like the longest month ever.
Ever.
And February is on track to give January a run for that title.
Which is pretty ironic considering February is the shortest month of all!
It all started at the end of 2019. There was a fall (my 88-year-old father) and a hospital stay and then rehab. I found myself on a plane on the day after Christmas to spend 2 1/2 weeks with my parents in Florida. To help. And to help figure out what happens next …
turns out they don’t want to think about what’s next. They want to turn back time to pre-fall. Or pretend they are pre-fall healthy and agile.
Life doesn’t work like that at 88.
Did I mention my mom’s memory issues? Yeah, it’s Groundhog Day each and every morning when I wake up in Florida.
So it was a frustrating 2 1/2 weeks.
And now I’m on a plane. Again. To Florida. For another 2 1/2 weeks.
For another month of denial and delusion.
And Groundhog Day.
Sigh.
Here’s hoping your 2020 is going better! And that February doesn’t drag on to long …
